Parenthetical (Wryly)

A brief note between cue and dialogue — (dry), (in Spanish) — steering delivery or context.

A parenthetical sits under the character cue and above the line: a one-or-two-word steer like (whispering) or (to Marcus). Old-timers call them 'wrylies' after the archetypal (wryly).

Use them when the delivery would otherwise be misread, and almost never to direct the actor's emotion — a page of (angrily) reads as distrust of both the actor and your own dialogue.
