Detective Robbins had seen enough. The woman's body lying in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor, the dead baby still clutched in her arms. And the man on the carpet in the den beside his desk, a bullet hole in his right temple, the weapon by his hand. "Brian didn't do this!" The man's mother. Maybe if she was someone else, Robbins could pass her off to one of the uniforms for a statement. But this was Judge Loretta Milbury, who Robbins knew professionally. Robbins had testified before the judge in more than two dozen cases. She couldn't just dismiss such a powerful woman so lightly. "Judge Milbury, I'm deeply sorry for your loss. We will do everything --" "None of your platitudes, Detective. My son was not suicidal. I don't know how this happened, but he did not murder his family.
