A plain-text screenplay format — human-readable markup that any tool can import and export.

Fountain is screenwriting's plain-text interchange format: you write with light conventions (a line in caps before dialogue is a cue; a line starting INT. or EXT. is a slugline) and software renders full screenplay format. Because it's just text, it survives every tool, platform, and decade.
